Leap

Dedicated to Pratya and Divya because they were the biggest event of my life.

[TITLE credits to Divya for the idea, thanks div! ;) ]

It felt beyond reach,
And I felt so low,
My mind and soul withered,
Spreading undiminished woes.

I'd never think to think,
Or even try to try,
I felt like a minikin,
Looking up at an elephantine.

I placed a palm and I placed a foot,
Pulled myself up and I thought I could,
But I lost grip and my foot slipped off,
And I stood there staring at the etched wall.

She leaped and she made it,
Right over the wall,
Maybe her wall was short,
Or maybe she was just tall!

No! It was the same,
I know it fait accompli,
If she could do it,
Why couldn't I?

I pulled myself together,
And prepared for another try,
But how could I scale such an unscalable mount,
So I stepped back and let out a cry.

The next day I came back,
With fresh hopes and courage,
With strong sense of boldness,
And confidence as my entourage.

The wall seemed at odds,
A lot shorter than afore,
So I braced myself,
And prepared for the roar!

I leaped and I made it,
Right over the wall,
The wall was neither short,
Nor was I too tall.

What was so different,
From the last time I tried?
Was it my courage,
Or was it my stride?

If I'd just believed,
In what I could do,
Then I'd probably do better,
Than finish number two.

Back with another poem! Except I don't know what to name this one so comment below a possible one word title to my poem (will give you creds).
This poem explains what my everyday life is at this point, after a big change. Everything is so new to me and it gets quite intimidating at times that I just bail out on opportunities and wait for someone to show me how it's done. And then I regret not going for it because what they did was what I would have done. Well I just hope that that doesn't last too long.... so... yeah! Good talk! Bye! :)

What I really mean...

"Madame, May I?"
Another way to say...
"Get up, Get out,
I'll put away the tray!"

"I think I need to leave,
I'll come another day."
"No! I won't!
I just don't want to stay!"

"Mr. Smith if I may,
I would l like to add..."
"Hey Smith! Shut up!
Your ideas drive me mad!!"

"Hey! How's my hair?"
Says my friend posing low.
"It looks like a rake!"
"That's so Marilyn Monroe!"

Imagine I spoke my mind,
What a loner I would have been!
Not a friend, not a neighbor,
Not a stranger, not a kin!

I may be true to my thoughts,
And you'd flutter away like a bird,
But the truth is bitter,
Or so I've heard!

Thank you guys for taking your time to read this poem. I'm glad I could come up with something after so long! It's funny how we just lie to make someone feel nice or just put things another way so we don't hurt someone. I thought this might be funny but comment below if you think it is otherwise! Keep checking my blog for something new!

A Trail of Breadcrumbs

If it isn't too late to realize,
I have come a long way,
From things that used to be,
And friends who used to stay.

When I look back the path I walked,
It looks sober and serene,
Kissed by the rays of the sun,
And hugged by the shade of the tree.

Another light to wake up to,
Stretch and yawn and nuzzle the view,
Has it changed or has it not,
Some-a-same, and some-a-new.

Alone I've been now,
For quite a long while,
No friends to say good morning to,
No friends to bid goodnight.

When I look back at the path I walked,
It looks sober and serene,
Kissed by the rays of the sun,
And hugged by the shade of the tree.

And now I see an empty land,
Waiting to be paved,
With thoughts and dreams and strong goodwill,
For a future that I crave.

I saw it coming way before,
And decided to waive it off,
And the pain I feel now is terrible,
To not cherish the moments with y'all.

If I ever need refuge,
In this world where pain was made,
To find love I'll simply follow,
The trail of breadcrumbs that I've laid.

Hey! Thank you for reading my poem. It means a lot to me. But if you skipped all the way down, you get the credit anyway!
I wanted to write this poem as a tribute to all the love and friendship that I left behind in India. I want to thank everyone who stopped by in my life to give me a hug and make my day wonderful.

Racism

"It isn't our weaknesses that make us vulnerable... It's our mindsets..."                            ~ Ritu
There are many people in our world today, black people, white people, brown people. And now you are sitting there behind your screen calling me racist. That's because you got the meaning of racism wrong.

Racism, by definition, is the discrimination or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. That's what Google said. Now when I say that I wasn't being racist, I mean that, although I called them black, white and brown, I didn't subject qualities or skirmish characteristics to any of them, I simply called them black, white and brown.
Now I could also call them Africans, British and Indians; respectively; that's not being racist either.

I am Indian, and my skin color is a tanned brown, I am a Hindu by birth and I am born into a general caste. That information was based on my nationality, color, religion and caste. If someone doesn't know my name, this is the information, or I'd say basic information, they would be relying on. This would be my apparent identity.

I'd like to rephrase what Google said. Racism is the discrimination or antagonism directed against someone having an identity based on the belief that one's own identity is more dominating.

Apartheid was an event in history when the whites dominated the blacks in their own country and curtailed their rights. Some of you can just draw a straight line joining the two dots, apartheid and racism, but what you need to understand is that Apartheid was an event... Racism is an issue! It's a global issue. On a much large scale.

Many people from all around the world have held campaigns across their country to wipe away traces of racism. But you know what the truth is? None of that is going to do any good! The best we can make out of these campaigns is to stall the people so that we can buy as much time as possible to actually get a solution. But when the mass will truly see what the media have been doing all this time, they will be battered and that little spark of the fire could leave this world in flames. I mean WAR.

I'm writing this today because of a triggering news broadcast that I watched a couple of days back. Times Now was broadcasting a debate on racism. I was thinking, Racism existed for as long as I can remember and they were on my TV screen, yelling at each other, creating absolute hullabaloo on the broadcast and still trying to define racism. That was an absolute waste of time, I'll give you that. Victims of racism are dying out there because someone who has been troubling them finally lost their control. So much for stalling.

Let's face it. We know this issue cannot be controlled by anything we are doing. Really, how many of us actually read the posters put up by campaigning parties, and even when we read them, do we care? No! Because we were never affected by the consequences of racism. And although we are watching videos on how it has affected people, reading articles on what had happened because of it, it doesn't really give us a true insight to how much it stings... and we don't want to know either.

In the 2016 US Presidential elections, Republican candidate Donald Trump, wants to evacuate all immigrants from the States. I think this act is enough to start a revolt. 13.3% of US residents are immigrants and 25% of them are Mayflower descendants. So Donald wants to remove 13.3% of the US residents, that is almost 42.4 million people of the total population with whom President Obama made peace with during his Presidential tenure, which made his country worthy of the title the "United States". Makes so much sense to me, Trump.

Let me explain why I referred to that. Most of the immigrants are Africans and Asians. These immigrants either came for jobs here or were called or they were immensely wealthy and decided to shift to this country. These are the immigrants who add their efforts for the welfare of the country. they provide service and obtain so too. These immigrants contribute to providing man power to all the country's deficient needs. Trump wants to shoo them because he thinks that they pose, or may pose in the future, a threat to the country. This is racism. Why does he think that only the Africans and Asians pose a threat? That is Racist. He doesn't have the rights to blame anything without proof! And for heaven's sake, the country's twice elected president is from AFRICA! Does he even know if any American is with the ISI? Does he have any idea about the statistics of his own country? Yes, I am throwing rhetorics now.

What the government and the Campaigning parties are trying to do now is bring or give more importance to the victims of racism. By that, unknowingly, they are propagating the idealism of societal one-sidedness. This is causing an uproar from the other side.

It's about balance and the intricacy in handling that poise. The spotlight on our stage today is swinging from one identity to another, from one race to the other. It's not about telling the people to run behind the spotlight, It's about stead fastening the spotlight to one spot where everyone can walk in and get Equal importance.

I wanted to write this for a really long time but I never quite felt the reason to. This is dedicated to Pratya because I think she would understand me very well.

A Right turn or a Left?

*******************************************************************************
This is a poem that roots its foundation into the concept of "Confusion". It is about how people panic and get hasty which results in everything going wrong.
*******************************************************************************
I could have lit a life that day,
But I chose to take the other way,
For I was in a Doubtful Nerve,
If it would benefit me.

That girl in darkness with no light,
Was wondering with all her might,
That how will she ever fight,
The scent of Dire depression.

I saw her drowning in the pool,
I advised her to stay calm and cool,
Hesitated to save her,
Oh! I'm and idiot, such a fool.

I learnt something the other day,
I could have saved a life that way,
If i stood and thought of what to do,
I was in a hurry, haste,
Redundant panic goes to waste.

I could have lit a life that day,
But I chose to take the other way,
For I was in a Doubtful Nerve,
If it would benefit me.

Best Friends Forever!

You were the helium balloon,
Tied to a string,
Tied to my soul,
When my spirits needed a lift.

You held my hand,
Through dark times and good,
When I needed you the most,
You were always beside me.

When my foot slipped the rung,
And I thought I was gonna fall,
You held me up,
Strong and tall.

When my mind was a honey comb,
With way too many bees to hold,
You shared the burden with me,
Already suppressed by your own.

You walked in, I noticed,
You spoke, I saw,
Your abnegation, your love,
I was left in awe.

You were selfless, I was selfish,
You cared, I never saw,
You loved, I didn't try to feel it,
My heart was too frozen to thaw.

You made my trust your treasure,
You heeded my emotions like a gem,
You touched my soul like a feather but,
You left a mark like a flare.

You turned me into a jewel,
You carved my sharpness rotund,
You wiped away my smudges,
And thawed my frozen heart.

You gave me your shoulder to hang on,
Your hand to wipe my tears,
Your smile to fodder my happiness,
And your softness to mellow my thoughts.

You and I are the strings on the racket,
Criss-crossing each other's paths,
With a seemless frame and a steady grip,
We are a perfect match.

And with my chin on your shoulders,
And your chin on mine,
Our friendship shall last forever,
The way a diamond never loses its shine...

This is a poem I wrote for my best friend Anika.... It's about how I never quite realized that she was always there for me when I needed her and I never bothered to notice that. This poem is a tribute to her shining personality and selfless attitude.
***************************************************

To the three parts of me:

Dear Tweety,
When I am alone, you are my shadow,
when I need a hug, you are my teddy bear,
when I am cold, you are my blanket,
when I need a friend, you are always yourself....
Know that if you ever feel unwanted, you'll be Nemo, and I'll be that crazy clown fish who will tear down this world to find you, and give you a warm hug. :)
But you dare feel unwanted! -_-

Dear Div,
All these years, calling you Div, even saying Divya sounds weird!
A stranger would stab me in the front, a friend would stab me in the back, a loved one would stab my heart, but we would be poking each other with forks...
You are crazy and extremely stupid... And so am I... Maybe that's why we get along together... You are like a sister to me... An elder sister... I grew up on you after all! Thank you for all those years together and for not giving up on me. Thank you for making me laugh even when I didn't want to smile. I WUV YOU SO MUCH DIV!  ;*

Dear Wazzy,
Can't remember the last time we hugged. There's a million miles between us, we barely talk and we barely ever see each other and I still call you my bestie cuz distance can't make a difference if time could not! You are my best friend, a human diary and and a big part of who I am... Thanks for making me fall in love with Harry Potter! I love you so much! Can't wait to meet you in USA! ;)

LUV,
ME...

Streetlights; A story inspired by cold.

The moon wasn't quite neatly out yet but with a thick woollen scarf, hand loomed lace sweater, a pair of boots and itchy gloves, I was. Strutting down the lane that went past my house I breathe out puffs of smoke like I was a live volcano about to explode. Mother always told me to protect myself from the cold, I wondered why? Not like I would get abducted if I got too exposed but rather I'd catch a cold and get extra care at home! But as always, mother knows best.
It wasn't windy, it wasn't snowing but it was still so cold like snow and wind spawned a mighty wrath upon all sons and daughters of Adam and Eve. "Hail 'o' mighty wrath for you shall not be matched". As I walked under the streetlights, I felt warm never more homely than I could muffle out here in the wild.
Under the widespread light of the streetlights, I could see the little dew, or 'to be dew' drops sinking earthwards from the high heavens. They were like wee little seeds of happiness, love, empathy and heartfelt forgiveness that were showered upon this cursed land like drizzle.
A small sapling growing out of the mud caught my eye. I collapsed onto the ground to take a closer look. The sapling had two leaves sticking out either sides. Staring at the sapling, I was distracted by a small dew drop that drooled itself down one leaf. It's watery remains dazzled like glitter on the leaf. The other leaf was quite dry.
I blew a puff of smoke out again. This time it was so dense that I completely lost visual on the sapling. As the smoke cleared out again, I bedazzled myself back onto gazing at the sapling. There was a sudden dissatisfaction. There seemed to be a certain change in the looks of the plant. It seemed like a second ago the watery leaf was on the right while the dry was on the left! I rubbed my eyes and looked closer. I'm sure I saw it right! I stood up, looked left, looked right, looked down upon the little newborn and looked straight down the remaining lane. It seemed rather more lit up compared to the last time I saw it. The math says that daybreak was near. Really, how long did I spend gazing at that sapling? Besides, I don't feel drowsy one bit! Can't betroth the fact that I am still upright without sleeping at night. I start walking back home, thinking that mother would be raging in fumes. Father is probably worried sick, and equally mad at me for not coming back on time. I experience a queer unwillingness to go home but some things are to be respected regardless of one's will. My heart beats faster with every step that I put forward.
I'm here. I undo the latch on my front gate and walk in. Self talk creeps my spine. I knock on the door. Not once but twice in a row, as if I was eager to get in. No, I wasn't. Nobody answers the door. I knock harder, this time eager to get in, and also more curious to why the knock wasn't answered earlier. No answer still. I grab the door knob and twist it, I push at the door to open it wide. I thought to myself that the door wouldn't open because it would be locked from inside, but to my greatest surprise, the door defied the safety laws and stripped itself to give way to inside the house. I was astounded! Why on earth is this open? I call out to my parents as I dash inside to rest this anxiety. They don't answer. They don't answer. I run upstairs, my eyes raining, my voice aching, my heart seizing. "Mamma, Papa!", I call. What is wrong with them? Answer me! ANSWER ME!!
My heart stops. I stop. For a moment I feel thoughtless. Hopeless. Insecure. My mind is filled with illness. My thoughts are sore. I am angry, I am depressed, I am curious, I am scared. I am a bag of mixed emotions. Shivers run down my spine. My teeth slam each other and clatter. I growl out cries. My eyes look everywhere. They are wet and they are swollen. My fingers are cold and my face is pale. My head feels like a million ton rock. I am not thinking anything. My mind is free of in-comprehensive gibberish. My body feels light but my heart is heavy. Every tear that drips down the side of my pink cheeks carries a thought away from my mind. I collapse. I watch the ceiling fade as my eyes close like one closes the shutters of a window. And then, everything is quiet, everything is peaceful, everything is black.
The streetlight flickers. I blink twice. There are flies around the bulb. The flies swarm around their bulb like children swarm around for candies. I sit up. It's nearly day. I can see the twilight peeking out from behind the screeching skyscrapers. A hand shoots out at my face. "Lost, are we?", says a shadowy figure to me. The darkness slowly clears out  and the face starts clearing in. "Jolene!", I say out of joy. "You are an unpredictable lady! Did you realise you were sleeping on the ground? Clearly, hiding behind a streetlight can't help you not get caught but I guess you are a miracle! We took all night to find you, find you sleeping by a streetlight. Somebody found this game boring! Come on, let's get back to the camp!", says Jolene. She helps me up and I get on my strong twos and walk the way with pride of an event that I had no idea of. And then I think of home. And then the dream. Fear creeps in again. I get to the camp and call home pronto. The call is answered. "Hello?", I say, with fear and curiosity and anxiety.
"Hello dear! How is camp??"
